The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Salee Sukumaran Nair as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB). Nair’s tenure will be for three years, starting from the date he assumes office.
The bank has noted that Nair’s appointment is subject to shareholder approval, in accordance with regulatory requirements. His leadership is anticipated to drive Tamilnad Mercantile Bank’s growth, capitalising on his vast experience in both domestic and international banking operations.
With over 35 years of experience in the banking sector, Salee Nair brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. A postgraduate in Applied Electronics, Nair began his career with the State Bank of India (SBI) in 1987 as a probationary officer.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has held key positions, particularly within SBI’s Corporate Accounts Group, where he managed large corporate accounts. Nair’s international banking experience includes significant roles within SBI’s International Banking Group, where he served in New York and later led the bank’s operations in Australia’s Sydney.
