Paytm has launched UPI International, enabling Indian travellers to make seamless, cashless payments abroad. This feature is now available in the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan and Nepal, simplifying payments for shopping, dining and other activities using the Paytm app.
With UPI International, travellers can pay at diverse locations, including Dubai malls, Singapore markets, French cafés, Mauritius beach stalls, Bhutanese handicraft shops and Nepalese trekking hubs.
Activating the service requires a one-time setup linked to the user’s bank account. Travellers can scan a UPI-enabled QR code abroad to trigger automatic activation and choose a usage period from one to 90 days. For added security, they can deactivate the feature upon returning to India, ensuring secure and controlled transactions.
The feature also offers transparency by displaying exact foreign exchange rates and conversion fees before completing transactions, making it easier for users to manage expenses.
A Paytm spokesperson said, “UPI International allows Indian travellers to make secure, cashless payments in countries like the UAE, Singapore and France. With the holiday season approaching, this feature will enhance the travel experience and reflects our commitment to leverage technology that empowers users globally.”
In addition to UPI International, Paytm has introduced features like UPI Lite for small transactions, RuPay Credit Card linking and a UPI statement download option for tracking expenses.
