The General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) has named Ramaswamy N as its new chairman and Managing Director (MD), according to the decision made by the Ministry of Finance.
Ramaswamy brings to GIC a wealth of broad knowledge spanning over three decades. His tenure at the company has been defined by several accomplishments and a profound impact on various parts of the reinsurance industry.
He began his career with GIC Re as a direct recruit officer in 1988.
Ramaswamy has taken on the task of handling a wide range of non-life insurance classes, including fire, engineering, miscellaneous, motor, liability, aviation, marine and agriculture.
He has also served as the CEO of GIC Re in the United Kingdom (UK). During this period, he supervised the activities of the UK branch and was instrumental in the formation of GIC’s Lloyds syndicate (GIC 1947).
