Bandhan Bank has appointed Ratan Kumar Kesh as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He brings over 28 years of experience across various industries, including banking and finance, manufacturing and service sectors.
His qualifications include certification as an Advanced Quality Engineer from the Quality Council of Indiana, USA, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from NMIMS, Mumbai.
With nearly three decades of professional experience, Kesh has a proven track record in leading complex operations, encompassing transformation, automation, customer experience, quality improvement and other related functions. He has consistently demonstrated his ability to scale and address operational challenges at esteemed banking institutions in India, including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank and Axis Bank.
Joining Axis Bank in 2019, Kesh spearheaded a bank-wide operational transformation, impacting all business lines. He conceived and expanded the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) for the bank, focussing on developing innovative and tech-enabled solutions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a pivotal role in the crisis management taskforce, ensuring smooth banking operations in a work-from-home model. In 2020, his responsibilities grew to encompass the end-to-end retail operations portfolio, covering liabilities, assets, cards, digital, wealth, NRI, ATM, bank-wide reconciliation, customer service call centre and service recovery.
Kesh’s innovative spirit also led him to be among the first in the Indian banking industry to launch and successfully implement “Service CRM” at HDFC Bank. He further drove significant growth as a product head for premier banking, current accounts, and trade and forex business. Additionally, he served as Chief Customer Experience Officer at Yes Bank and assumed the role of Head of Operation Risk.
