The Board of Axis Bank has announced that it has accepted Amitabh Chaudhry’s re-appointment as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for another three years, beginning 1st January 2025, and ending 31st December, 2027.
The re-appointment is subject to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) and members’ approval under applicable regulations.
Chaudhry became CEO of Axis Bank in January 2019 after serving as HDFC Standard Life’s CEO.
In the last five years, he has initiated various projects at Axis Bank, ranging from revamping technology platforms to changing how new business is acquired. Under his leadership, the bank purchased Citibank’s retail division in India in 2023.
The board has also authorised Meena Ganesh’s reappointment as an Independent Director of the bank for a second four-year term beginning 1st August, 2024 and ending 31st July, 2028, subject to the approval of the bank’s members.
