The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the appointment of Dr Ajit Ratnakar Joshi as its Executive Director (ED). In this capacity, he will be responsible for overseeing the Department of Statistics and Information Management and the Financial Stability Department.
Dr Joshi brings a wealth of experience in policy formulation and macro-economic analysis, having served in key committees and working groups focussed on economic statistics and policy issues.
Prior to his elevation, he was the Principal Adviser in the Department of Statistics and Information Management. With over 30 years of experience, his expertise spans statistics, Information Technology (IT) and cyber risk management. He has also contributed as a faculty member at the Institute of Development and Research in Banking Technology, Hyderabad.
Academically, Dr Joshi holds a Master’s degree in Statistics from Nagpur University and a Ph.D. in Monetary Economics from IIT Madras. Additionally, he has a Diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
With his deep knowledge and extensive experience, Dr Joshi is expected to further strengthen RBI’s statistical and financial stability framework in his new leadership role.
