In an initiative to modernise and enhance the efficiency of Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs), the National Urban Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC) has launched a Business Panel comprising senior executives from UCBs across the country.
Formed as an Umbrella Organisation (UO) in March 2024, NUCFDC aims to provide fund-based and non-fund-based services, technology support and compliance solutions to strengthen UCB operations. The Business Panel will serve as an advisory body, offering critical insights, feedback and guidance to help develop innovative financial services, risk management frameworks and governance models tailored for the sector.
The panel, consisting of CEOs, CFOs, CCOs, CROs and senior officials from leading UCBs will play a pivotal role in validating new services before launch and gathering post-launch feedback; advising on loan products, treasury management, collections and compliance; exploring new business opportunities in UPI, co-branded cards, white-label ATMs and mobile banking; developing self-regulatory frameworks to enhance governance and transparency; providing expertise in IT, risk management, audit and regulatory compliance and representing UCBs in policy discussions and industry forums.
The Business Panel will meet at least once every two months, either in-person or virtually. NUCFDC will organise and manage the meetings, ensuring structured discussions and action plans. The first panel meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 2025, following confirmation of nominations.
