Kotak Mahindra Bank has recently announced the appointment of Bhavnish Lathia as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), following the resignation of Milind Nagnur, who previously held the dual roles of CTO and Chief Operating Officer (COO) until 15th February. Nagnur stepped down for personal reasons, paving the way for Lathia’s leadership at a crucial juncture as the bank navigates regulatory challenges and digital transformation.
Lathia, who brings over 27 years of experience in global technology and product management, first joined Kotak Mahindra Bank in August 2022 as the Chief of Customer Experience and Head of Technology for Consumer Bank. His tenure has been instrumental in shaping the bank’s tech initiatives, particularly in building a robust engineering team to drive Kotak’s digital agenda forward.
Kotak CEO and MD, Ashok Vaswani, welcomed Lathia’s appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the bank’s ambitious technology roadmap and strengthen its industry standing. This leadership move is part of Kotak’s broader strategy to accelerate innovation, especially following the Reserve Bank of India’s recent lifting of restrictions on new credit card issuance and digital customer acquisition. The bank had faced these regulatory hurdles due to previous IT infrastructure gaps but has since made notable improvements.
