Axis Bank has reappointed Amitabh Chaudhry as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for an extended three-year term, following the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) approval. Chaudhry’s renewed term is set to begin in January 2025 and will continue through 31st December, 2027.
Joining Axis Bank in 2019, Chaudhry has steered the institution towards growth, particularly in retail banking and digital innovation. A standout accomplishment under his leadership was Axis Bank’s acquisition of Citibank’s retail operations in India in 2023, which bolstered its position within the domestic banking sector.
In a separate announcement, Ganesh Sankaran, Group Executive- Wholesale Banking Coverage Group, Axis Bank, has confirmed his resignation that will be effective on 30th November, 2024. Sankaran’s tenure was marked by advancements in market share and asset quality within the wholesale banking division.
