Airtel Payments Bank has introduced eco-friendly debit and pre-paid cards, which support the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) system. These cards, created in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and based on the RuPay payment system, align with India’s One Nation, One Card initiative aimed at simplifying transactions across different transportation modes.
The cards are made from e-PVC material, and are designed to offer seamless, secure and contactless payment options. Airtel Payments Bank’s customers can utilise these cards across services including e-commerce, and at various merchant outlets, in addition to using them for NCMC transit transactions such as metros, buses and parking facilities, across India.
Speaking in this regard, Ganesh Ananthanarayanan, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Airtel Payments Bank said, “Our NCMC-enabled cards reflect our dedication to responsible consumption and production. We are committed to support India’s vision for a unified travel payment system.”
The NCMC debit cards are currently available for Airtel Payments Bank savings account holders, and can be ordered through the Airtel Thanks App, or acquired at various banking points. The pre-paid cards will be accessible soon via online and retail platforms.
